Samsung Dishwasher 7E error code
On WaterWall models, the reflector bar that sweeps high-pressure water across the tub cannot move correctly - it is blocked, jammed, or off its track.
Also shown as: 7E
Last updated: October 6, 2026
What causes the 7E error?
- Tall dishes or utensils blocking the reflector's path
- Packing tape or foam left inside after installation
- Reflector not seated correctly on its track
- Broken or worn reflector drive parts
- Failed reflector motor or sensor
How to fix Samsung 7E — step by step
Work through these in order, from simplest and safest first. Stop as soon as the code clears.
- Rearrange the dishes
Pull out the lower rack and check whether any tall item - a cutting board, large platter, or utensil - sits in the reflector's path. Reload so nothing hangs below the rack. - Remove leftover packing material
On new installations, packing tape or foam around the reflector stops it from moving. Remove every bit of packing from inside the tub and around the reflector bar. - Check the reflector seating
Make sure the reflector bar sits properly on its track and slides freely by hand when the dishwasher is off. If it binds or pops off the track, reseat it.Safety warning: Do not force a jammed reflector - check for obstructions first. - Run an empty test cycle
With the racks empty, run a short cycle. If 7E stays away, the load was blocking the reflector. If it returns empty, the drive or sensor needs service.
When to call a technician
- 7E returns on an empty cycle with no obstructions
- The reflector track or drive parts are broken
- The reflector motor or position sensor needs replacement
- The reflector will not stay on its track
Frequently asked questions
What is the WaterWall reflector?
Instead of spinning spray arms, WaterWall models use a bar that slides back and forth along the tub bottom, sweeping a wall of water across the dishes. 7E means that bar cannot move.
Does 7E affect cleaning?
Yes - a stuck reflector leaves parts of the load unwashed. Fix the blockage before running full loads or you will get dirty dishes.
My dishwasher is brand new and shows 7E. Is it broken?
Almost certainly not - new machines usually just have packing tape or foam still holding the reflector. Remove it all and the code clears.
