LG Dryer hs error code
The dryer detected a fault with the humidity sensor. It cannot tell how damp the clothes are, so sensor cycles may run about 2.5 hours and clothes come out damp.

What causes the hs error?
- Sensor bars coated with fabric softener residue
- Failed humidity sensor
- Wiring fault to the sensor
- Control board fault
How to fix LG hs — step by step
Work through these in order, from simplest and safest first. Stop as soon as the code clears.
- Clean the sensor bars
Find the two metal sensor bars inside the drum, just below the lint filter. Wipe them with a soft cloth dampened with white vinegar to remove the invisible softener film, then let them dry fully. - Power reset the dryer
Unplug the dryer for a minute, plug it back in, and run a sensor dry cycle to see if the code clears. - Use a Timed Dry cycle meanwhile
Timed cycles do not rely on the humidity sensor, so your laundry still gets dry while you troubleshoot.
When to call a technician
- The code returns after cleaning the bars
- Clothes stay damp on every sensor cycle
- The sensor bars look corroded or damaged
- A reset does not clear the code
Frequently asked questions
Why does the dryer run for hours with HS?
Without a working moisture sensor, the dryer cannot tell when clothes are dry, so it runs a long default time.
Where are the humidity sensors?
Two metal strips inside the drum, usually just below the lint filter opening.
Will cleaning really fix it?
Often, yes. Softener and detergent film insulates the bars and is the most common cause.
