Samsung Oven E-OA error code
The oven overheated - it got hotter than it should, and the control shut the heating down as a safety measure. The oven will not cook until it cools and the fault is addressed.

What causes the E-OA error?
- Failed oven temperature sensor misreading heat
- Heater relay stuck on the control board
- Blocked oven vent trapping heat
- Cooling fan failure
- Control board fault driving the heater continuously
How to fix Samsung E-OA — step by step
Work through these in order, from simplest and safest first. Stop as soon as the code clears.
- Press Clear/Off and let the oven cool completely
Clear the code and leave the oven door closed while it cools to room temperature. Do not try to cook again until it is fully cool.Safety warning: Keep children and pets away from a hot oven; the exterior can stay hot for a long time. - Check the oven vent for blockages
Make sure the oven vent (usually at the back of the cooktop or rear of the oven) is not covered by foil, pans, or debris. Blocked vents trap heat and cause over-temperature trips. - Disconnect power for 30 seconds
Once cool, flip the breaker's off for 30 seconds and back on to reset the control. If E-OA returns on the next heat-up, a sensor or relay is faulty. - Do not run self-clean until it is fixed
Self-clean runs the hottest cycle of all. Running it with an overheating fault risks real damage - resolve E-OA first.
When to call a technician
- E-OA returns after cooling and a reset
- The oven overheats on every use
- The temperature sensor or heater relay needs testing
- The control board is driving the heater nonstop
Frequently asked questions
Is E-OA dangerous?
The shutdown itself is the safety system working. But repeated overheating can damage the oven and is a fire risk, so do not ignore a returning E-OA.
Can a blocked vent really cause overheating?
Yes. The oven relies on venting excess heat; when the vent is blocked, heat builds past safe limits and the control trips E-OA.
E-OA appeared during self-clean. Is that normal?
It is not normal, but self-clean's extreme heat exposes weak sensors and stuck relays. Let the oven cool, reset, and call for service before using self-clean again.
