Frigidaire Washing Machine E11 error code
The washer took too long to fill with water. The control waited for the target water level, gave up, and stopped the cycle.
Also shown as: E11

What causes the E11 error?
- Hot or cold water tap not fully open
- Kinked or twisted fill hoses
- Clogged inlet valve screens
- Low house water pressure
- Faulty water inlet valve
- Drain hose pushed too far into the standpipe, causing siphoning
How to fix Frigidaire E11 — step by step
Work through these in order, from simplest and safest first. Stop as soon as the code clears.
- Open both water taps fully
Check both the hot and cold taps behind the washer and turn them fully counterclockwise. A tap that is only half open starves the washer. Make sure nothing is leaning on the valves. - Straighten the fill hoses
Pull the washer out slightly and run your hand along both fill hoses. Straighten any kinks or sharp bends. Hoses should loop gently, not fold flat. - Clean the inlet valve screens
Turn both water taps off. Unscrew the fill hoses from the back of the washer and look inside the valve inlets for small mesh screens. Rinse sediment off the screens, reconnect the hoses snugly, and turn the water back on.Safety warning: Always turn the water taps off before disconnecting a hose, or you will flood the laundry room. - Check the drain hose height
The drain hose should be secured in the standpipe with an air gap, not jammed deep inside or sealed airtight. If it sits too low, water siphons straight out during fill. Reposition it per your installation manual. - Call a technician for the inlet valve
If taps, hoses, screens, and drain position are all correct and E11 persists, the inlet valve itself is likely failing. Replacing it is straightforward for a technician.
When to call a technician
- E11 persists with taps open, hoses straight, and clean screens
- Water barely trickles in even with good house pressure
- The inlet valve hums loudly or leaks
- The control board shows E11 the instant any cycle starts
Frequently asked questions
Can the drain hose position cause E11?
Yes. That is one of the most common causes of E11: the hose is pushed too deep, water siphons out as fast as it fills in, and the fill never finishes.
I only wash in cold water. Do I need the hot tap open?
If you use a cold-only cycle with the hot tap closed, the washer still expects both supplies. Open both taps fully even if you wash cold.
Will low water pressure trigger E11?
No. Low water pressure fills the tub slowly and the control times out with E11. Check that no other appliance is using water and that your main house valve is fully open.
