Frigidaire Oven F3 error code
The oven temperature sensor circuit is open. The control cannot read the oven's temperature, so it will not cook.
Also shown as: F3

What causes the F3 error?
- Failed oven temperature sensor (RTD probe)
- Loose or broken wiring between sensor and control
- Sensor connector unplugged or corroded
- Failing electronic oven control misreading the sensor
How to fix Frigidaire F3 — step by step
Work through these in order, from simplest and safest first. Stop as soon as the code clears.
- Power-reset at the breaker
Turn off the oven's breaker, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on. If F3 returns as soon as the control powers up, the sensor fault is real. - Visually inspect the sensor probe
With the breaker OFF, look at the sensor probe inside the oven (a thin metal rod sticking out of the back wall). Check that it is not visibly broken, bent, or touching the oven wall. Do not pull on it.Safety warning: Keep the breaker off while inspecting. Do not yank the probe; its wiring runs through the oven wall. - Call a technician for sensor testing
Testing the sensor means measuring its resistance and checking the wiring harness to the control. A good sensor reads around 1100 ohms at room temperature. A technician can test and replace the sensor in one visit.
When to call a technician
- F3 returns after a power reset
- The sensor probe is visibly broken or damaged
- The sensor reads far from 1100 ohms at room temperature
- The wiring harness or EOC needs replacement
Frequently asked questions
F3 vs F4: what is the difference?
F3 means the sensor circuit is open (broken). F4 means the sensor circuit is shorted. Both point to the same sensor and wiring; the failure mode differs.
What should the sensor read?
At room temperature a good Frigidaire oven sensor reads about 1100 ohms. Far above that (open) or far below (shorted) means the sensor is bad.
Can I still use the oven with F3?
No. Without a valid temperature reading the control cannot regulate heat safely, so it locks out cooking.
