What causes the F11 error?
- Membrane keypad key stuck or shorted
- Worn touch panel with a shorted key
- Loose or damaged keypad ribbon cable
- Failing electronic oven control (EOC)
- Moisture or debris under the touch panel
How to fix Frigidaire F11 — step by step
Work through these in order, from simplest and safest first. Stop as soon as the code clears.
- Press every key
With the oven powered, press each keypad button one at a time. Feel for a key that sticks, feels different, or triggers without being fully pressed. Pressing a mechanically stuck key firmly can free it. - Power-reset at the breaker
Disconnect power at the breaker, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on. If F11 returns immediately without anyone touching the keypad, the short is electrical, not a temporary jam. - Dry out the control panel
If F11 appeared after a boil-over or steam near the panel, let the area dry completely for a few hours with power off. Moisture under the membrane can mimic a shorted key. - Call a technician for keypad or EOC replacement
A persistent F11 needs the keypad ribbon reseated or the touch panel/EOC replaced. A technician can run the control's key test to find the bad key.Safety warning: If the oven ever turns itself on or heats with no input, cut power at the breaker immediately and call for service. That is a fire risk.
When to call a technician
- F11 returns immediately after a power reset
- A key is visibly damaged or sunken
- The touch panel or EOC needs replacement
- The oven heats or beeps with no one touching it (cut power first)
Frequently asked questions
F11 vs F3: what is the difference?
F11 means a key is shorted (stuck). F3 means the oven temperature sensor circuit is open. F11 is about the keypad; F3 is about temperature sensing.
Will F11 keep coming back?
Yes. Repeated F11 codes almost always end in touch panel or control replacement. Note which key seems stuck and tell your technician.
Can pressing the keys fix F11?
Try pressing every key firmly once. Sometimes a single press frees a mechanically stuck key. If the code returns, the short is electrical.
